Who We Are
OUR STORY
Protecting Indonesia’s Heritage
The Indonesian Primate Foundation (YSPI) was established in 2025 in Bogor, West Java, as a response to the growing threats to the survival of primates in Indonesia. Born out of concern over habitat degradation, illegal hunting, and the lack of public awareness, YSPI emerged with a conservation spirit rooted in a commitment to preserving primates as an essential part of Indonesia’s ecosystem.
"From the very beginning, YSPI has been dedicated to becoming a hub of collaboration among scientists, educators, communities, and government institutions in safeguarding Indonesia’s primates through scientific, educational, and community empowerment approaches."
Our Vision
To become a leading foundation in sustainable primate conservation efforts in Indonesia, built on cross-sector collaboration.
Our Mission
- Protect endangered primate species in Indonesia through both in situ and ex situ conservation.
- Enhance primate welfare through research, field training, and public awareness campaigns.
- Educate the public on the importance of primate preservation and Indonesia’s biodiversity.
- Support government policies in protecting primate habitats and populations.
- Build strategic partnerships with national and international institutions, as well as individuals, committed to primate conservation.
